Make a Difference by Participating in Research
With estimates that 1 in 59 children will be diagnosed with an autism spectrum disorder, it is more important than ever to understand better the causes of and treatments for autism to help those with a diagnosis. Furthermore, studies in Europe, New Zealand, and the US have reported an even higher prevalence of ASD in East African immigrant families.
In collaboration with RFASG, Dr. Maria Chahrour from UT Southwestern Medical School researches the genetics of autism spectrum disorder (ASD) in East African families. We hope that by finding the genes responsible for ASD, we can better understand the processes disrupted in ASD and how these genes function in normal brain development.
Adults and children with ASD, and their family members, are invited to participate in our research. We can enroll interested individuals and families from around the world. Please contact us for more details on participation:
